Diverse Science Identities Resources for Teachers

Problem: After sending students a baseline ‘About Me’ survey that asked students to share more about who they are and their relationship with science, we noticed that many students’ did not “see themselves” as scientists. The most common responses for ‘who do you think of when you think of science’ were Albert Einstein and Bill Nye.

Purpose: Our team has been collecting resources that may assist teachers as they provide students the tools to identify with and see the socio-historical diversity within the field of science. We aim to expand students schema of scientists by highlighting pioneering scientists of color (BIPOC) and or women scientists.
